We're very excited to have Garon Mailman of NatGeo's hit show, "Wicked Tuna," join us as our ocean & fishing expert for our room 8 end of year project-based learning unit on fishing. If you haven't watched the show, Garon and the FV-Tuna.com are in 1st place & Garon has been a big part of their success! He's a very charismatic and good-hearted guy who really is looking forward to working with our class! Our kiddos will explore fishing as a sport & profession while learning about the different types of fish, bodies of water, & life cycles of fish. Its going to be a terrific experience and we're very grateful Garon will be joining us.
The entry event kicks off with a fishing presentation and discussion with Garon. We'll build our KWL chart & "need to know" list. After the entry event, we'll have some direction for exploration & Garon will have some challenges for the kids to complete. Students will present their findings to family and friends at the end of the unit. If our kiddos work hard and prove they are ready, we'll have a chance to become fishermen & Garon will show them what it takes to be real life fishermen at a local fishing spot in June!
Below are some games we're playing in math workshop to get the kiddos jazzed up for tomorrow. :)
