Big News - Room 8 Now 1:1 iPad pilot!
With the support we've had from families ready to send devices to school and a hugely generous donation, we will now be able to go with 1:1 iPads beginning February 3rd! Those who were willing to participate in BYOD (Thank you for this!) with something other than an iPad, please do not worry about sending that device. An iPad will be provided by Jameson School. However, we will need the iPad owners to send their iPad to make this work. We can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate this!
We've got the infrastructure in place that is accompanied by a terrific mobile management system and some of the best apps that will ensure our students are reaching all levels of Blooms Taxonomy (See image below). Those who are assigned a school issued iPad, please understand that iPad will stay at school and we will manage the applications. For those without a school issued iPad, our K BYOD portal will serve as the "one stop shop" for all the iPad apps you will need to download and updates on BYOD. We plan to extend this page as a place of publication where all parents can see the wonderful work your kiddos are doing! Additionally, we have a list of apps for you to download available now, however, please realize this list is subject to change. We'll be sure to contact you via Class Messenger with those changes.
Lastly, we have more good news! Our Jameson Tech team is scheduled to visit and meet with the wonderful technology team at Washburn Elementary, the state pioneers of 1:1 iPads. Check this article out on their research-based success. We plan to talk strategy, best classroom practices, and see their kids in action. This is a really good thing for our planning and implementation of iPads. Lots to look forward to! Stay tuned for more updates. :)
